Madhubala (born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi) was a legendary Indian actress who worked in Hindi films during the 1950s and early 1960s. She was born on February 14, 1933, in Delhi, India.
- Madhubala's family was originally from Peshawar, in present-day Pakistan, and moved to Delhi during the partition of India. She had a difficult childhood as her father was a conservative and strict man who forced her to work as a child artist to support the family.
- Madhubala made her debut in the film "Basant" in 1942, when she was just nine years old. She went on to act in several films as a child artist and made her debut as a leading lady in the film "Neel Kamal" in 1947, at the age of 14. Her breakthrough film came in 1949 with the film "Mahal", which was a huge commercial and critical success.
- Madhubala went on to act in several successful films such as "Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi", "Mr. & Mrs. '55", "Howrah Bridge", "Kala Pani", and "Mughal-E-Azam". She was known for her beauty, acting skills, and charisma, and was often referred to as the "Venus of Indian cinema".
- Madhubala's personal life was marred by a complicated relationship with the famous Indian actor Dilip Kumar. They fell in love on the set of the film "Tarana" in 1951, but their relationship ended after a few years due to various misunderstandings and conflicts.
- In 1960, Madhubala was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which prevented her from working for long periods. She continued to act in films despite her health problems and her last film was "Jwala" in 1971. Madhubala passed away on February 23, 1969, at the young age of 36, due to her heart condition.
- Madhubala's contribution to Indian cinema is significant and she is regarded as one of the most talented actresses of her time. She was also known for her philanthropic work and her support for charitable causes.
